Traditions and Harvesting

This slide show shows a sequence of photographs, of an open day at the Weald and Downland Museum which was visited by HRH Prince Charles.

There were demonstrations of many of the old traditions including harvesting the corn which we grow there, stacking and threshing corn, pulling long straw into yealms and then using this to thatch two of their historic buildings, one using long straw and the other using combed wheat.
